| When a person
becomes unable to manage their person or their affairs the Patients
Property Act provides a way by which a family member or close personal
friend can apply to the court for an order allowing them to manage the affairs
of that person. In order to obtain an order for the appointment of a committee
two doctors must depose to the fact that the person can not, due to mental
infirmity, manage themselves or their own affairs. A court appointed committee
can conduct all of the business affairs of the mentally affirm person.
